Have you ever been to a music festival in Kansas City, or ever even thought about what to expect at one? Well it was definitely a new experience for me I can say that! This weekend I attended the Level Up KC Music Festival hosted by Tre Taylor and JR Hoodstar. This event was great for many local artists, because they got to perform their music and promote themselves to more of the community. They had many vendors, and fun things for children to do such as a waterslide, 2 bounce houses, and lots of live music with dance performances. They even had crates full of different fruits and vegetables that were FREE!!! You could take however many you wanted. This event was pretty diverse as well. I saw people of many different backgrounds and even hispanic food truck vendors. There were lots of teens there interacting with each other, and interacting with each other. This felt like a very safe event considering how much security and safety measures they took! There were no arguments between people, and no one was drinking uncontrollably. There were over 15 different acts who performed, some were rapping, and others were singing and dancing, but something each act had in common was they were all from Kansas City! The food options at this event were all great and affordable. I got to try a new food that I never tried, and it turned out to be great. This event also had free entry, so if you weren’t looking to buy anything and just wanted to enjoy the performances you could do just that. Overall this event was safe, affordable, and very fun. It’s a beautiful thing to see the city come together and be happy without any violence or negativity. I hope that we can continue having safe and fun events like this.
